hey guys, im new to this site and i was having a little trouble with an isd chip. My friend recommended this site to see if anyone new anything that could be helpful, brawden my help i guess.

anyway, i wired up a 2500 series isd chip like in the schematic link provided

When i record and play back though i only hear noise, and not what i recorded.

any suggestions on what may have gone wrong?

So, sure that your Vcc is 5V?
Are you certain that all of the address lines are grounded?

The electret microphone interface shown is a bit dicey, as they usually have three leads.

Is your speaker at least 16 Ohms?

1) yes, im using a dc power supply in electronics lab at skool
2) yes, i just double checked.

dicey? hmmm, can you give some links to read a little more about mics?

and yes my speaker is 16ohms

thanx for the advice on the mic, i got a new one from radioshack and i can hear my voice on the playback.



----sadly there's still a lot of noise when do the playback. anyone know how to reduce it?

It's not a high-fidelity IC nor mic.

If you want studio quality, you're going to have to spend lots of money.

Not a happy situation, but "cheap" and "high fidelity" are not often partners.
