Hey. Have anyone used new raspberry PI camera - https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/raspberry-pi-high-quality-camera/

I need to use a camera for my raspberry PI application and need a clear good quality image from about 0.5m-1m distance.

The camera needs to capture what is inside a box which is ( 0.5m - 1m) distance from the camera. The camera will be standing directly above the box. The items inside the box will not be very tiny but could be as small as 1/2 raspberry PI size board. I do not need to see the numbers or anything just need to be able to get a clear enough picture to recognise whats there.

I do not have anything in common with photography but could someone suggest me whether this camera will be capable of achieving what I need since I do not want to throw away $70. Also, what lens would you suggest there are 6mm and 16mm options.

Appreciate any advice!

The existing 6mm lens should work for this application. If you have an iPhone you can check by taking a picture of the box using the rear camera. If the area seen is OK, then the standard Raspberry Pi HQ 6mm lens will be acceptable. The 6mm lens is pretty blurry (only 3MP) but should be good enough if you don't need to read text. I've included a comparison image with the iPhone below.

I've built an angle of view and field of view calculator which you can use to double-check that the coverage is correct if you want to be more accurate. All you have to do is input the size and distance of the objects.
