Indeed so. Do we have another Betamax Vs VHS on our hands?its funny to see market rivals collaborating to maintain monopoly. Since Sony is involved with blu-ray and PlayStation while microsoft with Xbox and xbox is supporting HD DVD.

I'll bet that didn't happen more than 100 times before it broke.Quite. A friend of mine had one of those multi-disc DC-changers for his home hi-fi. After he spend weeks programming the library through which you selected a disc through a rather pretty GUI, you could easily press a few buttons and.....what seemed like an eternity later the music would start. By the time the music started playing everyone had gone home!

He was a bit of a tech-freak - always needed the latest thing, so he probably sold it before he got 100 uses out of it. It was a Sony as well!I'll bet that didn't happen more than 100 times before it broke.
Sure thing...the lawyers from Sony, Microsoft and Apple will be chewing the door down! Seriously, it would be interesting to see what, if anything, they could do.So this super system is an emulator for every console platform as well?
It sounds like a legal nightmare.
I notice that the drive doesn't support writing to Blu-ray or HD-DVD discs - I wonder if this is a feature of the new formats as part of the new DRM initiatives? I haven't seen writers on the market, though this may be due to technical/business reasons. You can buy an HD DVD/Blu Ray combo drive from LG for $330. You can also buy video cards that will allow you to watch in HD from your PC. The card should also be able to out put in HD to any HD device (LCD/Plasma TV or projector).

There are Blu-Ray writers out there. I know because I sold one to this lady when I worked at CompUSA. They were $600 back in March but the lady got it for 40% off since the store was closing. I think that the reason why that drive doesn't write is because it would cost much more. I was surprised when I saw that the drive was $300 because last I saw just the Blu-Ray drives(w/writing though) were $600.I notice that the drive doesn't support writing to Blu-ray or HD-DVD discs - I wonder if this is a feature of the new formats as part of the new DRM initiatives? Interesting to know, I will keep my eye out for one (not to buy, but just as a passing curiosity). There are Blu-Ray writers out there. I know because I sold one to this lady when I worked at CompUSA.
