Picked up a couple of these “photoelectric sensors” for cheap…wondering if I can make a driveway alarm from one? I had one of the cheapie Harbor Freight ones, but even with some mods it didn’t work very well. I can get power to this unit fine, but wouldn’t want to try and run power to a “receiver” on the other side of the driveway…ideas?
Thanks. C6620A3A-B829-4B79-86C2-1E8E7B85DCC1.jpeg060007E1-85BD-49D9-AC93-A4192277DF04.jpegC83262D2-991F-461A-95E8-3F66958EECE3.jpeg693307D2-0C83-4211-887C-B9BEED9CC13D.jpeg

Just at a glance what you have looks more like it detects product(s) on a conveyor than detect a broken beam in a driveway. The manual should cover this. They have several models including your smarteys plus model.

Yes you are right. It only came with the sheet in the photos. I’m sure it’s overkill, but hey—15 bucks brand new, and I don’t happen to have any belts/conveyers around…(I do have a Hud-son home sawmill)

You can see they offer several “optical blocks”. That’s a retroreflective sensor and the one on it looks to be the absolute minimum. I am guessing it is the shortest range option, possibly only a few centimeters—or less.

Have to agree for the price eventually it will come in handy. On the bright side home garage door safety sensors are pretty inexpensive. Though powering one in the driveway may be a problem. :)

I kinda had a feeling it would be the “shortest range option”…maybe I might get lucky and find another block…
