I have a
- Nema17 stepper (17hs16-2004s1) <-2.xv @ 2A per winding.
Driven by
- L239D <- 3-35v @ 600mA

okok I know this chip is outside the specs of that motor... but It seems to work if I drive it (contant voltage and current limiting) at 7v@600mA
My question(s) is:
1 - Is it because the approx wattage is the same?
2 - The h bridge get's HOT! <- is that normal? 70DegC aprox. (yes it has a chunk of aluminum glued on top, but it works (48hours and still running)
3 - I could easily switch to the L298N... but the min voltage in specs is 5v for the motor side... Perhaps someone could recommend a more appropriate alternative?

General advice and kind correction welcome.
