I've been playing around with a broken Uniden answering machine that refuses to power up, it seems like there isn't anything getting past this part...but i really do not know what this is, it is marked on the board as a diode, but i can't seem to find anything online about it with the numbers listed on it... Please understand that I'm just playing and learning what is what...Thanks for all your help!

Is there any DC voltage on the + & - pins?
If not, does it have AC on the bottom two?

1v on DC side, i'm not getting anything on the AC side..I've checked the wall wart, it's putting 8v to the board. It leaves the plug, passes a couple resistor then gets to that rectifier and i have nothing afterward...

 

If you have no AC on the bridge input then it may not be the source of the problem, unless it is shorted and causing the low voltage, can you lift/unsolder one leg of the AC terminal of the bridge and try again for voltage.
