I'm a bit late to the party, but ...
I don't see what the Arduino gets you. Also, there is nothing in the first post about tying a phone ring to the button press, so how would you unlock the door with a phone call?
For a simple remote control, there are many transmitter/receiver sets on ebay that will give you a relay contact closure output (perfect for wiring in parallel with the pushbutton switch) for cheap.
If the phone doesn't have its own wall wart, it is powered remotely by something that surely (Shirly) has a few mA to spare. It shouldn't be too difficult to probe around the board and find the local GND.
