Correct, there is a push button at the front desk that is being used. That sends the signal through a data cable to the local conenction to release the door. Like I said, I can hear a click but it doesnt provide power to the lock or relay.
Still waiting to se a photo of this push button switch at the desk.
Is it just a simple switch or some kind of module?
What kind of signal does it send, meaning is it 12 volts or possibly a data signal?
What is this local connection?

I went and followed that worthless link given in post #17. While it mentions a 12 volt output for a lock release IT MAKES NO HINT ABOUT THE CURRENT IT CAN PROVIDE!!! Thus the description is not useful. And some take me to task for being so critical of listings that provide no useful information.

Back in post#7 I asked for the TS to measure the voltage. Did that ever happen?? I do not think it did. Have we ever even been told what voltage and current are available from that power supply?? THAT can be discovered by reading the label!
As I read the model number of that release device, the number "24" stands out. Does that mean that it is designed to operate when 24 volts are applied???
So what voltage is provided from that incoming power source?? What current can it provide?? What voltage does the lock release require, and how much current will it need.
Then from that unknown door camera package that claims to be able to operate a door release, which claims to deliver 12 volts with some unknown current capability, how also connect to the same door release.
What it looks like is that the video package 12 volt output should be connected to operate a 12 volt relay with it's normally open contact in parallel with the contact in the card reader.
WHAT IS NOT NEEDED is a relay module with internal electronics that requires it's own power connection.
Just a simple automotive cube relay with a 12 volt coil and a normally open contact.
