Need help on use of Encoder

Generally 100p/rev is considered way too low for CNC servo positioning, would not be too bad for spindle RPM control.
Generally a 1k pulse encoder is used, and then this generally uses the 4 edges for quadrature x 4 = 4k pulse.

100 slots would give 400 pulses per rev. My CNC uses steppers with 200 steps per revolution so it's well within reasonable limits.

The lowest encoder I have seen when purchasing a servo motor intended for CNC that includes a incremental encoder is 1k pulses.
And this was considered rather on the low side.

Mind you it's more about distance moved per step, rather than steps per revolution so gearing, thread pitch, spindle diameter etc can come into play.
