Need help in Aptitude Question

HP why not allow convergence tests?
These exercises are intended to build proficiency at algebra as opposed to analysis! -- Get it?

I say why walk when can ride:)!
I must say your analogy is rather apt!;) Which is to say (to 'borrow' your vernacular) -- What part of exercise don't you understand???

I say you are being the wet blanket
Better a 'wet blanket' than a door mat!!!:D:D:D

Best regards
HP:)

Two Einstein's are at it again. o_O
Why can't you two speak in plain English.:D
:confused::confused::confused:
If you are referring to my (over?) use of formatting -- 'Tis merely by way of compensation for the unavailability of verbal cues - which being the veritable bane of textual communication... -- As for @Aleph(0)? I hesitate to speculate... Seems her 'Gravis Mushnik'-come-'Andy Kaufman' lingo has taken on a life all its own? -- Forbearance please!... She can't help it!;):D

Seriously - speaking for myself - please cite the 'problem text' and I'll attempt to clarify/rephrase same:):):)

Best regards
HP:)

I just don't get your sentences most of the time.
It's like you two are speaking on a whole new level.
An example would be helpful?:) -- Granting that there's something to what you're saying, such could be part of my apparent communication difficulty with the 'TS'...

Sincerely, best regards
HP:)

PS -- I am aware that my punctuation is appalling:oops: -- Is that the trouble?

I think the problem is probably that you have a vocabulary that is well beyond that which most people have (definitely myself included) and you use it. I think some people see that as being pretentious and find it galling. Personally I suspect it is just that you have a broad vocabulary and that you use it -- something that everyone should strive to do (namely push their use of their own vocabulary to the limits and constantly try to expand it). It's hard to limit oneself to a narrower vocabulary than you are comfortable with in order to match your audience. It can be done (we do it with children all the time), but it takes effort and, more to the point, it requires that you have a good feel for the vocabulary extent of the target audience.

Thank you!:)

FWIW: I endeavor to approach verbal communication much as one approaches, for instance, mathematical expression - to wit: use of the least number of 'words' precisely expressive of an idea -- Indeed I intend no pretension!:) - In point of fact, any attempt at 'lexical curtailment' would be both artificial and, I daresay, conspicuously disingenuous - in addition to increasing my 'word count' beyond endurability (à la 'legalese') --- Moreover, experience has shown all manner of condescension -- most especially 'dumbing down' -- to be, quite understandably, far more offensive to listeners/readers than any perception of affectation! -- Trite though it may be, it really is rather basic -- I resent being 'talked down' to - hence I refuse to 'talk down' to others...:)

For all of that, I strive to avoid use of 'jargon' (outside of appropriate 'confines') -- and am most grateful for 'alerts' should I fail in that endeavor!

Many, many thanks for your honest, considered assessment of my intent!!!:):):)

Sincerely, Best Regards
HP:)

While I'm probably one of your biggest fans, you are teaching me new words all the time, I also think your statements in post #453, "For all of that, I strive to avoid use of 'jargon' (outside of appropriate 'confines') -- and am most grateful for 'alerts' should I fail in that endeavor!", is a little disingenuous. Your back and forth with Aleph boarders on 'text speak' most of the time! But for others it's like a dictionary/thesaurus.

is a little disingenuous....
Not at all!:) --- now having been alerted to same, I promise to address the problem!:)

Your back and forth with Aleph boarders on 'text speak' most of the time!
Thanks for bringing this to my attention!:) Speaking for myself - such owes to 'transient lapses of cognizance' that our discussions are public (explanation -- not excuse!) -- The public are both welcome and encouraged to read and contribute to the thread! -- From now onward I shall endeavor to expand all discipline-specific abbreviations at least once per the discussion{s} in which they are used... Moreover, I will request that @Aleph(0) does likewise:) --- Please don't hesitate to offer feedback as you see fit! -- Such is greatly appreciated!:)

With utmost sincerity
HP:)

HP, like I said I'm a fan. But think that what I said in my other post is what drives others to doubt you. Wish I had your command of language, just a worker bee myself, made a living using my hands.
