Hello,

I played a bit with the intensity levels and could see a bit more of the part:

EVoegele_part.jpg

It looks like a 25 Volts capacitor.
Is there more text on the other side?

looks like some sort of part number 3360. I thought the same . Thanks for cleaning up the image.
Can you photo the ends?

What markings that can be made out suggest a capacitor, but the appearance of the damage - not so much.

There are/were VDRs (a type of MOV) in that sort of voltage range for shunt regulators where accuracy is way down the list.

Mount your part and camera on a stable surface and use the time-delay shutter so you are not touching the camera whe the image is captured. Also, add some more light. It is amazing the clarity you get without the ever-so-slight movement of a human hand.

FWIW It appears to be a 'paper' dielectric capacitor - That said, it has been my observation that the 'package-style' of the imaged device significantly predates the 1980s?

Best regards

HP I say based on pic of damage in post 2 it's probably tubular ceramic cap? Anyhow I agree that pic needs scale to be more useful:)!
