I know of two different programs called TASM. The first one, by an author unknown to me, was a meta assembler that used tables to define the target instruction set. TASM stood for Table Assembler and had nothing to do with C language programs.
The second TASM was from Borland and part of the Turbo C package. In actual useage TASM was not necessary to compile a C program.
Are you asking about either of these or is there perhaps a third one of which I am not aware?
