A store here that often sells off surplus items had a sale on one of the Mintronics Picmicro kits Blinky POV, decided to get one for the Grandkids for Xmas.
Re-programing is done off the Blinky site by flashing to a couple of photo cell receivers using your monitor.

In Star Trek: First Contact, each Borg character has a blinking red LED next to one eye. The blink patterns are Morse Code for the names of effects crew members and their families. I "borrowed" that idea for an FAA radar controller. One CPLD had a bunch of unused macrocells, so I appropriated 96 of them. One indicator LED appears to blink about once per second. Actually, it is blinking my name in a Morse burst at around 3 kHz.
