So, when i flip the multimeter switch into any position. Except off, it displays an uppercase H inside a square, a battery symbol and the number 1, as shown in thy picture. Does anyone know what made this happen and how to fix it and prevent it from happening again? Thanks

 

Sounds like it's stuck on holding the max reading. Try toggling the hold button or even clean behind it.
