No firmware updates available at the dealer?
I got the basic package entertainment wise, monochrome screen, no navigation, no touch screen. I do have cell phone pairing thing.

Cracked the user manual, saw: mp3 and wav. Registered on the forum for that brand and model, asked there, people said that those are the only formats available.
Also 2016 was the last year for that generation. They did roll out new generation of that model for 2017.

The vast majority of my music listening is done while driving so the limits of MP3 are unperceivable in that environment.

Plus The satisfaction of being able to stick some 100+ continuous hours of music on a USB stick just so I never have to listen to some radiostation fools talk over the first 30 seconds of every rare good song the play is nice as well.

That and knowing that for the next 100+ hours of music every song is one I like is even better!

Hey, while we are at it, why don't we admit 1940s cellulose is a better motion picture format than bluray DVD on a ultraHD screen?
If you ever get the chance, check out Wizard of Oz on blu-ray. They remastered it frame by frame, sometimes referring to multiple masters to reconstruct anything that had been lost. I had only ever seen it on TV (my dad saw it in the theater as a kid). The difference is stunning and it's a real treat.

Ever try Pandora? My wife was using it and one day told me to enter a song I liked. I happened to choose "The night they drove ole Dixie down" by The Band. Then the algorithms went to work. You can rate (up or down) each song it suggests. Before long, every song is great. It's truly amazing. I've been amazed at the great stuff that has been offered. Live versions and covers I never knew existed. Different artists with similar sounds. Maybe one song in 20 you skip but more are hidden gems you never knew existed. Highly recommended.

Pandora is my main source of music these days. In fact, between that and Bluetooth, my phone has become my music system.

I've got Bluetooth amps everywhere I tend to spend time, Bluetooth headsets, and the Bluetooth interface on my car stereo.

I've discovered that my new Samsung S8+ keeps separate sound profiles for each different device, so I can adjust for each individually just once then move among them seamlessly.

Pretty damn neat.

What I do works just fine for me and it's simple and free.

I'm not an audiophile and my listening environments are far from perfect so basic MP3 files at 96 KHz or higher resolutions are more than sufficient for my ears and where they are at when the music is playing.

I have to agree.
I was drilling stainless steel today and if you ever done that, you know that distinctive high frequency sound... so, mp3 and some cheap speakers are just fine for me.

Yep. I drove 300+ miles today into a stiff head wind with my 97 Ford F Super Duty flatbed truck that I really should have gotten in for a new exhaust system last week. 80+F and no AC too so it was windows part way down the whole way.

A worn out record player with a toothpick for a needle would have been good enough in that listening environment. :p
