Movies that make you smile?

Can I infer from your comment that you haven’t seen it? It is much better than the original. With the emphasis on family, Cameron has raised the property from a fable to a drama. It is a better mix of color, fable, drama, action, politics AND family. I believe it succeeds on many dimensions. It looks like the naysayers focus on one thing and miss the contributions of the holistic film. The original was in fact two movies in one. The first half was a fable; the second half was action/ adventure. The sequel does not suffer from this dichotomy. And the introduction of the family storyline also does not suffer from an overly simplistic treatment. The individual personalities are well developed (probably contributing to the 3+ hour runtime).

Overall, a very successful movie.
I have not but I'm interested in hearing what people say about it before I spend time and money to see it.

I will say this on behalf of the naysayers. There are certain things about the movie that I liked. I can agree with you about the introduction of a family storyline. But overall, the film evoked a sense of "a sequel for the sake of a sequel."
I do not impose my opinion. Just wanted to clarify. Films, like wine, are a matter of taste. ;)

Yes, and the art & science of fine movie scripts apparently depend on box office revenue. Cameron claimed he can wrap up the story in one more sequel if episode 2 isn't profitable. On the other hand, if episode 2 does hit the $2B mark and turn a profit, he can string it out the storyline for three more movies to extract more cash from your wallet.

While Avatar 3 is already in the works, James recently told Total Film that Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 will be cancelled if the sequel underperforms. He said that they will complete the story with Avatar 3 "if it’s just not profitable" to continue.

I don't like this avatar either it's not my vibe I like watching the godfather the most this movie is the best for me
I went to the theater with full intention of seeing avatar. By the time we got to the front if the line, we talked ourselves out of sitting in a theater for 3.5 hours so we watched "a man called a Otto" instead. Spoiler, it's just a repackaged version of "Up" or "Grand Torino". Sadly, animated Ed Asner and Clint Eastwood could pull it off - Tom Hanks, not so much.

Also, Here's a fun mash-up for anyone who has seen Up and Grand Torino

I've seen a lot of negativity on the internet, both for good reasons and bad reasons, but I just wanted to take some time to ask you all what movies make you happy? Doesn't have to be a movie that is particularly happy itself, but it makes you happy and cheers you up when you have a bad day.
