Using mosfet as a switch to control a motor(don't know if it's ideal or not). I applied 5v from the microcontroller to the gate terminal while DRAIN-SOURCE is powered by a 5v power supply, the motor runs only for 1sec and turns off, but if i use the 5v from the power supply to the gate terminal, the motor runs continuously. Why does this happen, Mosfet Irfz44n

Show your Micro connection to the Mosfet.
Is it continuous or PWM?
The IRFZ44 is not the ideal and is now obsolete, use a logic gate Mosfet.

You're showing a P-Channel MOSFET. I believe that should be an N-Channel.

Oops! Never mind.

Wait a minute: you DO show a P-channel. Your part number is for an N channel. OK, yeah, you ARE showing the wrong FET.

Gate voltage does not sustain when load runs. Measure it. Raise the supply a few volts, power the circuit with 8, 9, 10V instead, or get a mosfet that saturates with less gate voltage.
