Hi,
we facing loss in capacitance and failure over run in our 1uf MLCC., after examine there is a flex crack at the bottom of the component. though the crack is away from dielectric layer we still face failure of cap.
let me know what could be the cause or its purely due to crack at any position in MLCC.

 

You might contact manufacturer as there have been, over the years, MLCC bad
lots in manufacturing which were caught in the field. My current knowledge of
such is way out of date, so contact them.

Cracks in surface mount devices are almost always caused by forces, either mechanical or through temperature variations. So they could be caused by an incorrect soldering process, or even the change to lead-free solder.
