This picture shows that an octive covers 7 keys.... but down below it says, "As you can see, one octave is equal to eight white keys' worth of distance on a piano keyboard."

P.s. This is a great online book .... it's been very helpful so far. I also like the practical perspective.

Thanks jut!

Rather than start a new thread, I received another correction via email from "georgeleague"

Volume II - AC » BASIC AC THEORY »
What is alternating current (AC)?
Label under AC Alternator diagram is misspelled as "Alterantor".

Thanks jut for point out the errors.

1) I agree with all the proposed changes except this one:

http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_2/chpt_1/2.html
The ECG is a special-purpose oscilloscope expressly designed for medical use.

I cannot see what is wrong with the above. Maybe I am missing something. "Expressly" looks OK according to the dictionary that I checked.

2) All other proposed changes have been made to the master copy at ibiblio.

3) Alternator spelling is corrected.

4) In addition I have received a private message containing other corrections to Volumes 1 and 2.

5) I have added a new section, new experiment, to Volume 6, Ch 4, AC Circuits. The new section/experiment is "Induction motor"

6} Summary of affected volumes/chapters updated at ibiblio:

Volume 1: Ch 1, 8-13, 15,16
Volume 2 Ch 1,2
Volume 6 Ch 4 (new images also)

I've just checked a few online sources. The term "expressly" applies well and truly to the text in question. A more common usage would be "The ECG is a special-purpose oscilloscope designed expressly for medical use." The text as written is, however, quite correct.

Having been hooked up to an ECG, I can assure that it is an odd sensation regardless of being expressly designed or designed expressly!

OK, I agree too on the use of expressly. That was my mistake -- I've never heard the word used that way.

When I read the paragraph, my mind immediately thought, "Oh, he meant to write especially".

I noticed the new experiment in the AC section last night. Can't wait to try it out. :)

Thanks and keep up the great work.

No problems, it is better that the text is challenged than not.

Great, hope the learning goes well and you can feel free to ask any questions you have here in the forums.
