The engineersgarage is completely wrong about testing a Mosfet.
1) Connect the gate to the source so that Vgs=0V and measure the drain-source resistance. The Mosfet should be turned off and measure infinite (very high resistance).
2) The datasheet says 10V for it to be turned on so make the gate +10V and the source 0V and measure the drain-source resistance. It should be within the very low resistance range listed on the datasheet. Subtract the resistance of the multimeter's leads.
