So many meters and so little time. :) The added feature of data logging is nice if you have need for it. Personally over all the years I can never actually measuring an AC voltage where True RMS was a concern other than measuring the output of modified sine wave inverters. Hopefully the seller will let you swap for an upgrade.

Yeah I might just keep it. I have a scope so no real need to true RMS.

i have one faulty 8265 but i am not the one that will says "this is not good"

It has gone faulty before i made a lot of measurement but maybe that`s a just a one piece of million at the store.

You know your requierments you know know your budget do it without lot thinking.

Dont know where are you from but here in Bulgaria maybe it`s better to buy it from local store with warranty.

What actually do you do?

Hi,

Out of all the 20 dollar (USD) and up meters i have had in the past i never had one carp out completely except one after many years and that was a Radio Shack. That was an early model though when digitals just started becoming popular, and it worked for some 20 years until the display started to loose segments (LCD) and i traced it to the rubber connector between the PC board and the LCD module. A clamp allowed it to run for a few more years, maybe 5 more years, but after that it became a bother as the clamp did not seem to work right anymore.

That's about the 20 dollar and up meters i have had, and currently i have quite a few, but the 5 dollar meters i cant say the same for. I got two 5 dollar meters over time from Harbor Freight and they both were so bad i basically junked them both. Too bad too as one had a nice backlight.
One of the meters was too sensitive to noise so i could not make measurements in the automobile for example.

So i stick to the 20 dollar and up meters. I have a small almost pocket size RS meter that i got recently that works pretty decently for example, although it takes an annoying small 12v battery. I have a 100 plus dollar RS that i have used for years but that one is pretty decent really.
I should make a list of my meters, havent done that in a long time now :)

Dave's videos are pretty good and point to a lot of things we dont often think about when buying a meter, but yeah they are a little long to watch the whole thing. A nice list of things to think about would be nice.

Also keep in mind that you can get a voltage standard that you can use to check your meters on the DC voltage scale, an often needed scale. That means if the meter is not too accurate at least you will know that when you measure 5.01 volts that it is really 5.00 volts or something like that.

P.S.
It sound like this meter has been ordered already. Would be nice to hear about how well it works once received.
