With so many posts asking where to buy bits but no location given, it would be nice to see location as part of a user profile. It could be required to post after reading forum rules...
I like this idea.There is actually a plugin for vBulletin that shows the country flag of the user's IP address in the post information as well, with no input needed by user, but a "better" location could be provided in the current way as well.

The flag will change with each post, depending on where the post was made from. If they are using an anonymous gateway, the flag will usually change with each post. I wouldn't want the whole internet to know that my house is unguarded.
I don't see much wrong with the current system, it doesen't take long to ask "What country are you from?"
