How do I splice a 2 wire (red/green) TSR connector with a 4 wire (red/green/black/white) USB cable? I'm trying to download data from and Abbott Blood/Glucose Monitoring Meter to a PC. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Thanks Les. The BG monitor has a PC function and should be compatible as it is listed with this accessory. I'm trying to save some $$$ and make my own. Can you help?

yes Les..that's the cable I need. Now I have both ends I need to marry up but I am unsure of the proper splice connection.

 

What about the IC that is moulded into the USB plug ? Do you know what this IC is and how to connect it ?

I cut the IC off on both the USB cable and the TSR cable.

 

That monitor probably has a serial interface, and the cable that came with it is the cheapest way to connect to a PC.

Les has brought up an important point. The commercial cable has an embedded controller inside. It won't work by splicing your two cables together.
