I have an older VHS-C camcorder,
JVC GR-AX76U that was given to me, and I cannot power it up because I have no charger. I do, however have a 2.5mm? barrel connector adapter that fits the charger port, I just need some voltage.

The camera requires 11V DC, no idea on current draw. I do not have an 11v power supply but I do have 12 volts.
Can I use a 12v supply? What if I put a single resistor in line with it to drop by exactly 1 volt?

12V will be ok, i see there are plenty of adapter psus for this model that come with a 12v car lead, so go ahead and use 12v.

Works! Thank you

I have another question.
I am using a 12V supply that is inside my camper trailer. It is coming from a AC/DC converter and battery charger built into the trailer for battery backup purpose. Lights. FM radio etc.
Anyway the converter appears to have some AC ripple. Filter capacitor gone bad. It is visible on the camera display and audible 60Hz hum in audio.
Is there a way I can clean that up? Will it damage the camera?
