Like the Mickey Rooney Judy Garland movies. 'Hey kids! Let's put on a show!'.

Anybody want to hear about it?

Key feature is it can be built in different configurations.

From single and twin up to V16 and flat16.

Would probably build in scale first. Like the old railroad invention patent models.

Do you have a love of tiny engines? How many have you torn down and repaired?

If you have no experience then you can forget about your dream unless you are willing to either spend years of working on tiny engines or have a fortune to invest to have someone do it for you.
People who build these things don't need to ask anyone how. They already know through years of experience. They might ask on the appropriate forum how to solve a specific problem just like folks do here regarding electronics. But for the most part they know what they are doing.

And they build these tiny engines out of love. Not simply because they just want a tiny engine. If it was just that they would just go and buy one and save a tone of time and money.

This can be scaled back to one project.
Something doable.
A cylinder head.
It should fit in with the big picture.
Catch is: should it be a conversion type part that fits an existing engine or
totally new?

Nobody has to make one part.
There is a machine shop down the street from me.
Ideas. Need ideas.

I don't want to redo this.
Get it right at the start.
Revisions okay. But not major shifts in goals.

Unless you are building it for the sheer academic learning experience of it there is no point.

An engine of any kind is a hugely complex device to design despite the apparent simplicity of it's base components to which none of us here hold enough technical background or want to ever build one.

Still the question remains

Why an electronics forum is being asked to help you with a complex mechanical project.

No question marks, so you can understand my point.

With love,
Kester

What's up with the rude questions?

If you don't like engines just don't say anything.

How many times do you want to be told it's 'Off Topic'.

Are you testing how accomodating I can be to annoyances? Not very.

'build these tiny engines'

It's not a tiny engine.

It's scale model of a real engine.

An engine for all motorsports.

Common cylinders and heads. Like a VW engine but water cooled.

That's the new concept.

A 'modular engine'. You can add modules to a crankcase to make different displacement engines.

That shows absolutely nothing of value and just made you look dumber and less credible towards your goal for it. :(

So yea, we weep, but not for the reasons you think.

I am smelling troll. From this an his other threads, PicNewbee is quickly headed for my ignore list. But I will hang on for a while because it is sort of like watching a bad accident.

What a sludge dump of negativity and close mindedness.

You guys have fun in the narrowest of sub sub interest.

I think I'm being cured of 'Let's uplift people'.

Those of us with other interests are smart enough to go to other forums that discuss those interests.

'I think you're beginning to see how many machinists work here...nearly zero.
If you're not figuring that out, go count the helpful, encouraging posts in this Thread.;)'

Thanks.

Well. Sounded like there were some machinists in the other post.

Anyhow it's just a side project anyhow. No big deal.

Kind of like Uber? As a die maker/machinist/car builder/motorcycle builder I've got enough projects both planed out, in progress and almost finished to start any thing else. I'll never finish them all before I die.

An engine for all motorsports.
Right there shows your limited knowledge of engines. There is not and can not be a single engine design that fits all applications, motorsports or otherwise.

Power to weight ratio,
Actual power
RPM band Vs torque
Durability,
serviceability,
cost to make
cost to own
cost to operate
service life
efficiency
emissions compliance
fuel type

Those are all key factors that are not directly and unifiably interchangeable nor compatible to reality.

You guys have fun in the narrowest of sub sub interest.
Rather why this forum's primary theme is electronics and not mechanical engineering.

Well. Sounded like there were some machinists in the other post.
There are a number of us who do machining to some degree relating to what we need it for. I am fair at machining basic to medium skill level things but not a master of it. Same with others here as well.

All of us have other interests and skills, many well above and beyond electronics as a hobby or profession, but the common tie in point here in this forum is electronics related stuff.
