Hello all. Tried and goofed, failed finding one among dozens on the market. Perhaps someone can suggest which to buy from those Temu, Aliexpress, ebay :

NO VIDEO, just photos.
NO WIFI, just memory card, loop saving.
About 2 - 4 megapixel images
No batteries, power jack or 5V from USB plug.
Not for wildlife,
No 4G, 5G provider.
Not larger than a pack of cigarettes.
Motion activated photos.

Help...

Exploring another route...

---> Re-purposing a retired 'smart' phone with no service, for surveillance/wildlife snapshot photo camera triggered by motion;

If you know of any application that can work, please advise.
No video, no service provider, no wifi. Just grab the phone hanging from the tree and look at pictures taken since last time. Power supply is not a hurdle.

Is it too much to ask ? Decommissioned old phones filling drawers doing nothing when they have on-board the camera, the memory for saving, the brains to do it, the connectors for everything... Is there a web site dedicated for re-purposing these very featured useable 'junk' ?

You’ve lost me. Do you mean 5V power is Ok, or also a “no“?

I know it’s overkill for what you’ve described, but it’s tough to beat the Wyze products for bang-for-the-buck. Your quest for simple might end up costing more than a mainstream product like the Wyze cam.

ESP32-CAM fulfills some of your mentioned criteria. However, I don't know if you are looking for something ready to use or something that needs programming.
