Hi B,
If you get 5x 1inch long magnets, they can be joined to make 1x 5inch one.

How wide? How thick?

A Google search for "Bar Neodymium Magnets" yields the following on the first page:

https://www.amazon.com/DIYMAG-Neody...&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583932717501943&th=1

Pack of two that are 2.36" long each.

Lots of 4" options. They have a 5" channel with two magnets. They also have a very expensive 8" magnet.

4" and 6" options

As pointed out by @WBahn, there are many sources of such magnets, particularly speciality dealers. A search should have no problem finding many options. Getting them won’t be hard, but I wonder what you are going to do with them. Such long magnets are quite vulnerable to damage. Multiple shorter magnets are more robust.

How will they be used?

Search for "STORCH Magnetics" They had a good website and best of all they were not amazon, so they actually knew about the products that they sold, which were magnets. That was what they sold and they had a good variety. But that was a while ago.

When at the university, I had several occasions to buy magnets from K&J Magnetics. They have excellent products, and specialize in rare earth magnets. This one seems close to what you want but once again I encourage you to use several smaller magnets if at all possible. Note that aside from this one 6" magnet, the length limit is 4". No doubt this is for structural reasons for thinner magnets and safety reasons for thicker ones.
