I got a cheap logic tool like Logic 8 $13.99 I read that people had problems using this.
Well I downloaded http://downloads.saleae.com/betas/1.1.30/Logic+1.1.30+(64-bit).zip
Run as root on Linux it worked out of the box I really the tool it's cheap but it works great.
I couldn't see paying 300 plus for a real one but after using this I'm thinking I should look into a a
real saleae one of the newer ones.

 

The cheap bare knuckles clones work fairly well. But they have no
input protection for over voltage, wrong polarity, so consider building
an external interface dongle with at least simple protection in it, like -
