I need some suggestions according to a project that i am working on.
Basically all i need is to enhance the Csync of a DVD player and send it to the ICS unit in my car. The only problem is how to power up the LM 1881N that needs 5V (stable). I can do that from the USB port that the DVD has but I need that port for external devices like flashes cards etc. So i am thinking of using the car supply (12V - 14V) and convert it to 5V. For that purpose I am using an LM7805. First of all I would like to ask you if I am going to have troubles with the heat (because the circuit is in a plastic box). Second I really want a schematic on how to use the LM7805 in order to have a sufficient power supply and don't destroy anything else!!! I am not sure but i heard that the LM 1881N needs 10mA (if someone knows anything about it I would appreciate it).
I built the circuit with the LM 1881N and now the only thing is to power it up.

Hello,

The LM1881 is a video sync separator.
The LM1881 will work from 5 to 12 Volts.
The maximum current drawn is 12 mA.
See also the attached datasheet.

The car when its on, it can gives up to 14V so there will be a problem in LM 1881N
If you know how to build the circuit with LM 7805 to power up LM 1881N I would appreciate it.

Here is a schematic for the LM78XX.

You can use the 7805 , 7808, or 7809 for the LM1881.
