Limit charge current on LifePo4 battery pack

I have an application where I need to charge a small LifePO4 12 volt pack (2Ah) (0.5C max charge) with a charger that can exceed the maximum charge rate. I cannot use separate charge/discharge terminals.

How might I limit the charge current and/or separate the charge from discharge current in a battery pack?

I am considering a power resistor and a Power Mosfet configured like a reverse polarity circuit to limit current in but allow high current out.

Depends on the battery you have. Some are designed to charge with a typical 12 lead acid battery charger. Can you post a link?

Yes, but some need a special charger, others do not. What is the manufacturer and model number of the battery? If you have a link to where you bought it, or, heaven forbid, a datasheet or instruction manual all the better. It must have come with something that gave the charger requirements.
