let me first say I hope I am posting my questions in the right section. And second, let me introduce as a total novice on electronics.
I am a visual artist and currently developing my analog set. that´s how I came across an interesting project. The Lumenoise.

so: considering the quite particular size it has to fit in, what is the best approach to this ? can the ATMEGA8 be floating around just with soldered pins ? does it require to be actually attached to something ?

also, is he using a 9V battery? doesn´t really look like that to me, but I wouldn´t really trust my knowledge on this
