I am developing a fiber optic archery sight powered by a red/green/blue tri colored 5 mm led.

The brightest I have found is 8000mcd.

I would like 12-15,000 mcd.
Do these exist?

Cheap LEDs use the plastic case to focus the beam into a fairly bright but narrow angle.
Like focussing the sun with a magifying glass to burn something.

A good LED is extremely bright when its case focusses it.

Try to search in e-bay. There are really bright leds in a good price.
