Led lights change temperature from on/off switch (Color temperature) (2)

Would really appreciate your help with my bathroom exhaust fan light issue. Disclaimer - I am not an electrician.

I’m trying to install an exhaust fan/light unit in the ceiling of the bathroom. The exhaust fan comes with 4 led light colors options (2000k …. 3000k, etc). I’m using a single switch to power both the fan and light. The fan works well and the light turns on simultaneously. However, each time I flip the switch, the light color changes. It won’t stay on one “preferred” light color only. I bought a 2nd brand of exhaust fan hoping that would solve it but the 2nd brand has the same issue. How do I get the exhaust fan led light to stay on the same color? By the way, I asked an electrician friend this question and he told me to send him the wiring diagram for the exhaust fan … he told me to change my wiring configuration to switch the neutral instead of the hot. I followed his advice, switched the neutral and it still has the same issue. In both cases the light and fan turn on simultaneously but the light color changes each time I flip the switch.

Hoping someone out there can help me solve this mystery. customer support has been awful and there are no reliable resources available online. I’m willing to buy another “simpler” fan if I have to but I’d prefer to keep one switch for the fan and light. My wife loves soft, warm light and doesn’t like a lot of the newer super bright led lights that come standard with most fan/light combo units.

Neutral vs hot is unlikely to have anything to do with it.

Switching the power to change states is a common method used these days - my new bathroom light switches between different levels of brightness each time I switch it.

Possibly your lights work in the same manner as mine:

If the light is switched on, then off then on within (in my case) seven seconds, then the light will change state. If the light is left on for more than seven seconds, then the current state is saved and will be the default.

So the light can be repeatedly switched on then off until the state you want is selected, then left on for a spell of time, so the current state is 'set'.

The only drawback to the whole thing is if you inadvertently double-flick the switch on-then-off, and have to switch it on again - then you will have changed the state and have to go through the selection process.
