Hello,

There is a very simple yway to make high resolution pictures.
I made the attached picture of the soundcard using a Epson 2480 flatbed scanner.
The resolution used is 300 dpi.

There is a funny story behind my picture. I translated brozizd's picture from .jpg to .png, and it grew to 3Meg. I suspect this is why two posts are hidden (presumed lost). I shrunk his down and trimmed it to show the image I used.

As for the glitch in V-Bulletin, is it worth bringing up?

Hello,

I can not see any hidden posts.
Perhaps it has to do with preperations for the move to the other server.

Doubt it. I posted twice, was able to access the hidden post by back stepping. It also allowed me to get the address of the image I posted. Both "disappeared" posts I had tried to upload a too large file in .png format (about 3 meg) before I realized how large that file was. I took the copied image, shrunk it using M/S Paint, trimmed it, marked the problem area on the PCB and attached it to the second "disappeared" post. I copied the images address, realized the second post was invisible.

The third post was the charm, a simple sentence. When I realized I wasn't getting my other two posts back I back stepped to my second disappeared post, copied it (with the image link) and pasted on my 3rd post. Whew.

Convoluted, but it worked. At least long enough for the OP to see the correction and use it.

I think the key is the two times I tried to upload a 3Meg .png file.

So these are going to be back lights for the sign? It looks like a cracked mirror, I'm not sure what I'm seeing there. Guess it did what you wanted it to though.

I seem to remember mentioning this was a brother in law deal? It isn't actually your business?

So how was the fade action? Any noticeable flicker?

I have an external Plextor DVD drive exactly like that one in your pictures!

Can you get a video of it in operation? Most digicams have some sort of video ability these days. It's looking pretty good.

LOL on the cracked mirror, the LEDs are located on the perimeter of the edge of the plex the fading is perfect and yes for my bro in law's new business. TOG I've had this plextor since it came out matched with the DVDX prog. its unbeliveable what I can burn! Buy the way Bill did you do another board? Can I use your schematic and PCB layout to order more boards from Express and how do I do that?
Thanks for the Help All, Jim:D

OK, I enlarged the board to allow for mounting, and added top traces using express PCB so you won't need wire jumpers (the cost is the same either way). The current board size is 3.7" X 3.4". They charge by the size of the board. Where do you want mounting holes? Might as well include them, drilling to them is pretty much the same.

When I finish this minor corrections I'll pack them and post them here. The total works left is around 5 minutes or so.

I changed the board again after making this post, these are the updates.

I enlarged the board to 4" X 3.7", added mounting holes for #6 screws.

Here is what it looks like.

Your PCB file is in the zip file. I needed to pack it so I could put it on the site, .pcb is not a recognized file type here.

If you make these have an extra one made and send it to me please. I'd like to play with the design for other uses.

Please! Double check this! I have made so many changes it needs a second eye badly!

The last change is I had the top and bottom of this board swapped. I seems I'm trying to redo my previous mistake.

Thanks Bill and when I order I will surely
send one to you. I loaded the file in the exp pcb program and got a quote for (12) boards @ $16.30 each like I said I'm still in the process of setting up to make my own as in your tutorial I'm swaping an old hp all in one ink jet for a laser printer hopefully I can get the results that you have . lol that will take some time:confused: (STILL NEWBIE) Thanks Jim

Do you want me to add text to the silk screen? At this point it is easy to do.

Yeah, you are discovering the joys of home brew PCB. If you make your own don't worry about sending me any, I was wanting to see the quality of the shop.

If you DO go the DIY method, use the prints on post #1 of How I make PCBs and print it out with GIMP. It is much better overall, and geared to toner transfer. You don't really need a silk screen, it is a luxury.

Transfering the toner is the problem. Until I bought the laminator is was a big problem for my setup.

I would be more than happy to make a pile of transfers and send them. Wax paper is cheap.

That board could be shrunk to the "cheap size" by using SOIC ICs (half the size of DIP, still very solderable), and 0603 sized resistors (6mmx3mm), or resistor packs for the outputs.

Just an idea.

So what is the cheap size, and how much is it?
The circuit shown above could be down to a 2"x3" double sided board, using all SMD components.

One House (Olimex)

$41-ish (30 Euros) for a full panel - 320x200 mm (12.59 x 7.87"), which could be cut up into a dozen or more boards laid out tight, Olimex also assists in this for a small fee. Per Board cost around $3, less than that if 2 panels are ordered.

For a bit more (if making LOTS), they also will place / populate the boards, you'd need to get with them for a quote.

I vaguely remember someone suggesting that the ExpressPCB files were actually Gerber files (for the OP, Gerber is pretty much a universal standard in making PCBs). IF this is true, then maybe other houses can use this file and give us a different quote, similar to what TOG was suggesting.

Thanks Guys,
I am in the process of doing a DIY board.(see attachment) bill I did that swap for the hp 1200 in the pic. and the laminator takes the boards great now to get the chemicals and other stuff. Wherre is the best place and quick delivery for copper clad blanks? I used 2 sided scotch tape and it worked perfect thru the laser printer. (tx for the tutorial)I'm goin shoppin again lol for the rest tdy. Jim :)

That is a good question, I've been getting mine from Tanner's, who doesn't do business over the internet.

Dan's Small Parts and Kits is a good vendor, but he has the damnest rules I've ever seen. Check or money order only, does all business by snail mail.

Be sure you get single sided stock, where ever you get it.
