I am very new to display technology from the circuits/signalling stand point. I want to have a basic understanding of the communication protocols required to interface with different technologies including HDMI and VGA. My end goal is to be able to design an HDMI interface. Does anyone know any good books that will help introduce me to display interfacing?

That's not a bad idea. Also good would be to find some interface boards that would interface a VGA or HDMI monitor with your choice of microcontroller. Havent looked into this for a long time now myself.

I have tried this but I find they tend not to explain what's happening inside. Just how to make the proper connections. That being said if anyone has found anything like this that has been helpful to them please let me know
