I have this light bars gadget incomplete, missing the controller :

The light bars connect with 3 wires, +12V, Gnd and Data-in to the missing controller.
The controllers I can find for sale have 4 conductors to the iight bars. Can anyone explain the difference ?

ICs that the bars have inside are SM16703p ; RGB LEDs are 5054

 

Without doing any real research my guess would be the TV bars are the addressable type and the controllers are standard type.

One of the common brand names for the addressable type is NeoPixel.

 

I have some LED light tape with the four connections, a +12 volt common and then the three lines for Red, Blue, and Green. But the controller was not part of the deal, but it was not what I wanted. So that is probably why the controllers you see are 4 terminal devices.
