I’m one of the organisers of the LeakKiller Challenge (you may have already heard about it -*Commercial promotional link removed by moderator) and I’m interested in hearing what approaches people might take to build a gizmo to prevent burst or frozen pipes/leaky radiators or some sort of warning/detection device to stop it happening in the first place?

What’s everyone’s thoughts? It needs to be ‘smart’ (IoT based) and ideally cheap to make. Are there any development platforms you favour, like the Pycom SiPy module, for example? Has anyone had a go at building something similar before?

Hi Grieg and welcome to AAC

I had a couple of thoughts.

1. The "contest" is geared toward use of a single product and I don't like that at all.

2. The TERMS AND CONDITIONS link does not link to the terms and conditions, instead it links to the same document as the "guidance document" link, that does not clearly explain the terms and conditions and I don't like that at all.

3. The "entry" appears to be a cover to write an article for the site.

4. Your post seems to be a thinly veiled advertisement.

Sorry, but you asked "What’s everyone’s thoughts?" and while I am not everyone, I am someone and those are some of my thoughts.

Since the entry document promotes the use of a particular Bluetooth module this falls under a category disallowed by the User Agreement for this site.
