LC Resonance for Degaussing

I have a circuit that uses an electromagnet that is frequently energized and de-energized to various strengths. I am dealing with problems caused by remanence and need to degauss the EM from time to time. I was thinking to use a kind of flyback LC Topology, where I would switch in a cap when the EM is de-energized to induce AC ringing to degauss the EM. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this kind of circuit design and if they were successful?

Put capacitor and diode.
EM will de-energized on end of every cycle ON/OFF.
Use high voltage transistor and select capacitor value to set
level of AC voltage.
It is not practical circuit, idea only.
