Anyone tried using the PCB salvaged from a laptop battery?

I get the impression they can be a bit uncooperative if you don't let them talk to the laptop.

Yes i tried one when they dont talk to the motherboard, windows thinks the battery is flat and doesn't show charging, yet it does charge, , couldn't solve it...

"windows"?!!!!! - I'm talking about salvage battery packs that I've never even been in possession of the laptop they went in. Where do you suggest I could put an OS?...………..

 

I used the balance pcb, but it needs windows to talk to for some reason so it knows when it's charging??

There's hacker blogs about using the PCBs standalone - but so far only found Apple stuff.

Pretty sure I charged various laptops without any OS installed - some of them would never have got there if I hadn't.
