Funny - I don't visit in a long while so my theory is it's possible that since I last visited, both trophies qualified in the 2 years passed, and it's only notifying me when I log in again.

 

I believe you are correct -- it updates things like this each time you visit, not as an ongoing background task. So if someone had checked a week ago, it would show that you hadn't received either of them.
