Before I posted this thread, the stats said that there are 100,035 threads.

After I posted this thread, the stats said that there are 100,035 threads.

So it appears that the stats are not updated upon each change to the database, which probably makes sense. They might get updated every so many minutes or hours.

I think you're right, because when I was refreshing the page last night after noticing that the thread count was 99,999, I saw what I believe was the 100,000th post at the top of the list of Today's Posts, but the thread count hadn't changed yet. After maybe ten minutes or so, I refreshed the page again and the thread count was exactly 100,000, and no new threads had been posted in the meantime.

And yes, to confirm our theory, the thread count now reads 100,036. Some simple calculations show that I was correct about the 100,000th thread.

That's good to know. So that provides a strong indication that you probably did identify the correct thread.

Hmm.. But the thread ID of this thread is 112,058. Subtracting off the public thread count of 100,036 means that there are 12,022 non-public threads, which should make the 100,000th public thread have a thread ID of 112,022 instead of 112,012.

I'm guessing that there have been ten SPAM threads that have been deleted in the meantime, which is probably about right.

Oops, in my excitement I missed the difference of ten when I made my calculations. But at least we have a good estimate of which the 100,000th thread was.

No biggie.

I went and checked the SPAM log and, sure enough, it appears that ten threads have been removed from public view in the intervening hours. So I'm pretty confident that you did identify the correct thread and that we have explained the discrepancy.
