Learned about this is another thread I started about a solar powered light. Can you make a Joule Thief circuit without a ferrite toroid? My control circuit has a chip, capacitor, resistors and an axial inductor. Can the axial inductor perform the same function as a ferrite toroid? Thanks.

The axial inductor is no use for a joule thief, it needs a ferrite core to saturate it with the multiple windings,
Thanks. That is what I thought based on the articles I read. The inductor in my circuit must be there to control the amount of current flow to the LED's.

Its based on a buck booster circuit, its probably the pr4403 chip, or a Chinese version, that runs leds from a 0.9 to 1.5V supply.
