Throughhole will be a whole lot stronger, and if you size the holes to make the 0.025 pins a close fit, after it is soldered it will be quite strong and stable. I don't recall the exact diameter that the holes should be, probably 0.032, but it might be 0.035.
Would you please post a picture of the finished board with the daughter boardinstalled whan it is done? It is always nice to see how a project works out.

Sure thing, the circuit works well on the breadboard so I’ll be starting to draw up the boards soon. The daughter board will have an EF86 vacuum tube that will lay parallel to the main board. I just have to work out some of the backlight dimming then I’ll be good to go on the boards.

There are about a dozen manufactures to choose from as listed on Digikey.com, examples:

3M
Amphenol
Molex
Samtec
Sullins
TE Connectivity

Note the important choices to be made besides 90° pin header:

single/dual row
number of positions
pitch spacing
length of pin, mating
length of pin, post
contact finish: gold, tin, tin plating

plus other specifications not as important, current, voltage, temperature, insulator.

One of the problems with online searches is what do you call the darn thing.
That is why I keep a printed copy of the latest Digikey catalog. I can search for the thingy by looking for the picture.
