Hello
I saw my senior working on a project of power factor improvement. He used a 220/220 transformer to isolate the project from the mains supply, with this function of transformer I am aware but what I want to know why specially for this project I mean for a power factor project. What if he does not isolate his project, will the project work fine.? power factor will be improved or what. Please explain in detail. Thank u

The isolation transformer is for safety so that there is no path to earth ground for the 220V.
Thus, with isolation, you would have to touch two points in the circuit to get a shock, not just one point.

The isolation transformer would have no significant effect on the power factor (as long as the load is significantly higher than the magnetizing current of the transformer).
