I'm sure those that brought RPG's to the "protest" had peaceful intentions. Yeah, right, I may have been born at night, but certainly not last night.

I find the whole thing ludicrous, but so is the statement by Clinton that the so called movie has to be released because of the freedom of speech. Made me chuckle.

What upsets me is that political satire is a powerful tool that was used throughout the ages by artists to fight for the oppression. People wrote plays (Candide for example) to comment on the modern world, messages needed to be heard. This thing has nothing to deliver and was simply aimed to offend a culture and to get a response. I cannot believe the masses fell for it. Not smart. Proving Hitler's theory of crowd manipulation right once again.

 

Right, but why such a disproportionate reaction?

Let's not forget that just a few months ago, the west were spending millions of dollars and man hours into 'freeing' these people from oppression.

Then as soon as someone says something they don't like, it becomes death to America. They then killed American ambassadors - as if they had anything to do with it. Then other embassies were attacked - in one case a German embassy was attacked and damaged - what one earth did the German people do here?

This video was meant to get a response, but if these idiots had just ignored it, i doubt anyone would have known it had even existed and no-one but a few would have even seen it.

They seemed pretty happy when we did meddle in their affairs and freed them from oppression.

They were begging us to intervene. Just as they are in Syria right now.

But I agree, that they have elected even more conservative governments. I doubt we would see the same scenes over the film if the dictatorships were still in control. Their states would keep them under control.

yes, especially those written off as collateral damage and people of Iraq who will never see stability again. Lets start the count of others who are happy, shall we... Afghanistan, Libya (btw, who owns their oil now, anybody knows?). Don't know why, but I am extra cynical today...

US has learned well from its parent and has perfected the politics of manipulation and use of geographic isolation. I applaud and cringe at the same time.

 

It is time this thread was closed. Opinions that can't be based on solid ground are expressed, over already sensitive matters. Let alone that AAC has a no-politics policy.

I have an opinion on the subject, too, but it's only too easy for this conversation to derail.
