Hi ,while i am reading about inverter circuits i came across these two circuits...I am really confused were these two same in functioning or different..what i know is AC-AC ,DC-DC converters,,AC-DC (or) DC- AC is an inverter

 

They function the same way as DC-to-AC inverters, except that the switching devices are BJTs in the first circuit and MOSFETs in the second circuit.

Does this mean Converter or the inverter is same??

 

The two terms can be used interchangeably, though from my experience inverter is preferred. Other people have other preferences.

 

It is my understanding that 'converter' is a general term embracing both DC-to-DC and DC-to-AC devices, whereas 'inverter' originally applied specifically to DC-to-AC devices. But both terms are loosely applied these days.
