Zombie fabs plague China's chipmaking ambitions, failures burning tens of billions of dollars

" Failed to launch; no progress has been made beyond PowerPoint presentation " That and rampant corruption are commonplace leading to a large percentage of constructed factories being completely empty with no installed equipment or manufacturing capability after spending Billions of USD for development and construction.
Shocked, shocked.

I wish I knew the truth about anything. I get a strange mix of 'business is the best it has ever been' and 'Business went to hell'.

I have this idea that both are true, and neither are true. I look to see why this person believes this. China has made some terrible choices, also they have made incredible advances.

China just jumped on the lagging technology semi roller coaster at the peak and are screaming (or hiding) all the way back down. Their practical, marketable advances in actual usable, (other than mainly stolen) production technology, are close to nil.
The market fears their ability to dump product, not to advance the state of the art.

The truth, It's always been both at the same time.
