My insignia tv's power light will turn on, but the screen remains blank and does not produce sound. Figured it must be a blown capacitor. I found some burn marks shown in the pictures (front and back of board). Think this is the problem? What is the large item with the copper coil labeled EFD21.... This item produces a resistance reading?

Ps: the C20 resistor does not produce a resistance reading (ohms)
However, The resistor next to it does produce a resistance

 

Hi,
I believe C20 and C21 are both capacitors and if reading in-circuit, you may not be
getting a correct reading due to other components involved. I think the other part
you are wondering about is an AC input choke. Insignia is a Best Buy house brand.
Parts are very scarce and a diagram may be impossible to get. You might put the
model number in Google and see if anything comes up in the way of common
failures or check with Shopjimmy.com for any parts such as the power supply/
inverter board. Good luck.
