Well, that is not a picture of the 2N3055 as that one is not a darlington, but with that said...

You are looking at the combination of several different manufacturing steps there. One piece is the metal base with glass sealed leads. In the circle part there is a square that is the "active element" or the transistor itself. You can also see two aluminum wire bonds to connect the device to the package leads.

Since when is the 2N3055 a darlington!? -- As an aside - what the 2N3055 IS is the most counterfeited BJT available (and that's saying something:rolleyes::()

    Best regards

    Hello,

I found a picture on the internet:
    2N3055 inside.jpg
The one on the left is a fake one, that you will get from some chinese counterfit makers.
    (the chip is to small).
The other are comparable with the 2N3055.

The 3055 was never a darlington, that was my point. However the image attached by the TS is a darlington.

    Sorry for the confusion.

Essentially via lithography techniques similar to those applied to fabrication of SSI 'dies' -- perhaps you'll find THIS ARTICLE a good starting point...:)

There are people who managed to make their own crude silicon transistors. The amount you have might be enought to get that done, but you can forget about selling those to anyone. Unless you spend years developing the process the chips you make will not be anywhere close to be comparable to even 50 year old silicon parts.
