Hi guys

I need to location the input clamp current in this datasheet:
http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/devicedoc/39682e.pdf

Here is how I usually do it:
  • search keyword "clamp" in the datasheet, or
  • look at section "Electrical Characteristics" in the datasheet, section 24.0 for this device.
But I cannot find any info about the input clamp current for this device, where else can I look in the datasheet for this PIC?

Thanks

The data sheet does state "I/O pins have diode protection to VDD and VSS" but I found no mention of their maximum current.
If the input voltage can go below ground or above the Vsupply, I would limit the current to no more than a couple mA.
The maximum sink current is determined by the output transistor size and has no relation to the maximum protection diode current.

Thanks for confirming. I would have thought these basic info such as input clamping current is a must in a datasheet, apparently not.
